If it's just a one-time call to bench a strong player for 1 game in favor of a lower tier player with a better matchup (pitchers are a different story), it's not that bad a decision. But if you try to manage like that for the whole season, it just won't work out. You do have to consistently play your studs. It's like not hitting on 16 when the dealer shows a 7. Yeah, it may work sometimes but if you try to play like that over the long haul, you ain't gonna be at the table long. Hopefully both guys have great #s tonight so you're not kicking yourself either way.
I have a category of "sit down pitchers"- Pedro, Schilling, Hudson.
and Prior, are about it. Unless my player has great numbers against
that pitcher, I will sit anybody as long as I have a decent sub with
a better matchup to plug in for that one night. This will be the first
time I have sat Edgar all year, only picked up Reyes 3 weeks ago.
Edgar will start tomorrow.

A triple for Pujols? Not likely (the guy is soo slow)- expect a double or a HR instead
Slow or not, Pujols is still the man and the MVP of any fantasy team.
I'd still start Renteria. The Cards will give him the green light to steal with Prior on the mound. They know that runs might be hard to come by and a stolen base might help them win.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
Thanks for the advice guys. I'm gonna stick with Reyes, I think he
has a better chance against Reynolds, and when he gets on base,
he is likely to get steals. I just don't see Renteria doing anything
with Prior. If I'm wrong, no big deal. It's my nature to take a few
chances, and go against the "book" on occasion.
Renteria is sitting out of tonight's game anyway with a strained back, so start Reyes. It probably isn't a serious injury but I wouldn't expect any more steals out of him this year.
Typical me, made the right decision for the wrong reason. Don't
like the sound of that, Renteria's numbers have been dropping
lately. Damn glad I have Reyes.
