I saw that he was out of the lineup yesterday to rest his back.. Is this any cause for concern, say like with Jim Thome in Philly last year?

They needed to play willy mo, it was a regular day off, the only other day's off he has been given are during interleague when he didn't start at 1B, no need to worry

I wouldn't worry, Papi was due for a day off. The back thing probably isn't nothing. A nice massage would get some kinks out.
