This year the Mexican Stars are making their first appearance at the GFI. Here is a little write up about them.

Ramssey Ochoa and Oscar Barreras are familiar names to GFI fans. But other names such as Mendes, Padilla, Alvarado, Miranda and Valenzuela are not. However, they all have one thing in common. They are from Mexico. The Mexican Stars are a travelling tournament team and will be making their first appearance at the GFI. This summer they have been playing in the SPBL of Los Angeles and have had an excellent season. Ochoa himself leads the league in hitting with a .453 average. On the mound his ERA is 2.28. We welcome the Mexican Stars to Grand Forks.

Mexico's Andy Torres was excellant, he was named the best pitcher of the tournament and the tournament MVP. He ended with a 0.00 ERA and pitched 17.0 innings with 19 strikeouts.

Lewiston's best pitcher who happens to be a Canadian, Chris Kissock, got 14 strikeouts.

The last game was a really good one between the San Diego Stars and the Mexican Stars. It was a high scoring game, where San Diego and Mexico exchanged the lead quite a few times. Until the last couple of innings either team had only a two run lead. San Diego ended up winning their second GFI title 13-8. That's pretty good for the small team they had.
