What're your personal favorite lines from a song? And I don't mean like classic lines that everyone knows/loves, I'm talking like ", that was friggin clever/smart" lines. Probably a bunch of lines from hip hop songs.
Here's one I love
"Girls scream for me like I was part of the Beatles
Well, I'm not honey, but I could be your Paul McCartney
and Ebony and Ivory into my jacuzzi"
-Wyclef Jean and the Rock - It doesn't matter Sounds lame, but I was in love with that song back in the day when I watched wrestling.
I could write a book in this thread, but let's just start with some old school back when presidents acutally had a set of stones:
War is just another game Tailor made for the insane But make a threat of their annihilation And nobody wants to play If that's the only thing that keeps the peace
Then thank God for the bomb!
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
i love sports references in rap songs. goes to show how "in" they are... i.e.
jay-z in beyonce's new song deja vu
I used to run base like Juan Pierre
Now I run the bass hi hat and the snare
I used to bag girls like Birkin Bags
Now I bag B ([BEYONCE]: Boy you hurtin' that)
jay-z in heart of the city
Can I live? I told you in ninety-six
that I came to take this s*** and I did, handle my biz
I scramble like Randall with his
young chris from the young gunz
I was just gettin two outta dimes tryna turn it to it three nickels
now they give me the rock, i return it like B-Mitchell
i know most you are pretty not too familar with these lyrics, but they're super-creative in the world of hip-hop, where most lyrics are just i shot him, i did this, i do that, you do this etc.....to hear creative and especially sports related lyrics is very refreshing..
so many to post, but i'll start with a current fav from Avenged Sevenfold:
I want it, I need it, revenge is dripping from my teeth
Need nothing, to feel power, and bring the killers to their knees
Nothing to lose, vengeance to gain (you know I'll never be the same)
So taste my breath, I'm close behind you (so desperate on your final day)
i can't post the lyrics to RHCP's Sir Psycho Sexy, but it's some good stuff.
You don't throw your time away sitting still I'm in a chain of memories It's my will And I had to consult some figures of my past And I know someone after me Will go right back
Civil War wrote:You can't trust freedom When it's not in your hands When everybody's fightin' For their promised land
I don't need your civil war It feeds the rich while it buries the poor Your power hungry sellin' soldiers In a human grocery store Ain't that fresh I don't need your civil war
teddy ballgame wrote:Let's start with the band in my sig.

Slash's guitar in Civil War gives me goose bumps everytime.

I'm a fan of old time blues. Here are some lyrics that always set me back because you know the guy means what he says:
Sweet Blood Call wrote:I'd have a hard time missing you, baby, with my pistol in your mouth You may be thinking about going north, but your brains are staying south
Also, almost anything off of "69 Love Songs" by the Magnetic Fields makes me happy.
