Don't laugh at my catcher question.... :-)

Postby BeautifulBrunette » Sun Aug 24, 2003 11:31 am

We're going into the last week of the regular season in my 12 team, H2H league...I got a solid season out of Greg Myers but of course he lost his job a few weeks back. Ever since then, I've been playing the catcher carousel. Who do you guys think is a better pickup -- Brandon Inge of Detroit (stop that laughing, it's not nice ;-) ) or Matthew LeCroy? Inge has been swinging a hot bat but he's with the Tigers so I can't really count on that many runs or RBIs out of him. LeCroy has been on fire on a good hitting team, but I have concerns about his playing time. Which guy would you go with? Could I hear some opinions, esp. from the Major League Managers? Thanks guys. :-B

8-o

Not a choice I'd like to make. Thank goodness I acquired "overrated" Pudge ...

But between those two I'd take Lecroy. If you remember, Inge was batting like .190 and got sent down from the Detroit Tigers for a month or two. He is just not good.

LeCroy's played many games in a row now at DH and it appears like he's a regular starter now. He bats cleanup too, so that most definitely doesn't hurt. It looks like he'll be getting PT at the expense of Dustahn Mohr. I believe one reason of the delay of PT for LeCroy, was because Jacque Jones wasn't in shape to play the field. Thus, with Jones DHing, LeCroy was forced to only play part time. Now that Jones is in left, LeCroy will get regular time at the expense of Dustahn Mohr, who played in Right when Jones was DHing. I just dropped Santiago for LeCroy. You should definitely dump Myers for him.

I agree with the above...LeCroy will give you better numbers than Inge...and he is now playing full time...Inge is too streaky, and not really that good anyway....

I'd go with LeCroy. If you still don't like that idea, then you might check out Hammock. I'd still take LeCroy though.

And Brenly loves him .. He will play as much during the week as any other Catcher. He is perfect for the catcher carousel.. nab him if he is avail ... He is in a roster crunch right now, but he will be up all of September and playing...

Unless it's AL only, I'd also go for Hammock. He'll be starting somewhere (C, 3B, RF) on a pretty regular basis and he's murdering lefties.

If it's AL only, I'd prefer LeCroy to Inge, even though the Detroit catcher has swung a decent bat lately.
