Jorge Sosa, still closing?-WHIR

Postby divelaw71 » Mon Jul 17, 2006 5:12 pm

I have read blips here and there that say things like "Ken Ray has to be the favorite for saves now", but has anyone heard anything directly from the Braves that says Sosa is indeed out? What's the latest?

"These go to 11".

I think the Sosa experiment is over and Ray to handle the majority of the closing duties. Sosa's just been awful.

I have seen no official statements from the Braves one way or the other and have a lot of sources that I check for this stuff.

Edit: That said my personal opinion is that Sosa is done as closer...but that's just based on what I would do if I were managing the team and not anything concrete that has been said.

Ray has pitched 3 days in a row in non-save situations.

No he is not a closer anymore. I think Altantic will be looking for a closer there is talks of them talking to SD for S Lind or Cubs for Scott Williamson, or J Borrowski from FL. I think all of them will step in as closer.

Jorge Sosa just hasnt been the pitcher he was last year. I own him myself and have been frustrated with his starts and now his relieving. I may see if I can find a GM who believes in him enough to trade me a arm for him that is reliable.

Sosa is pitching in middle relief tonight. The game is a complete blowout for the Braves so maybe Cox is just giving him some work to try and straighten things out, but I'm guessing that he will probably stay in that capacity while getting the odd save opp if Ray pitches on consecutive nights.

Announcers were saying that Bobby Cox is fed up with Sosa and they say he'll be sent down tomrrow. Too much of Sosa not trying. So who's closing for the Braves? Ray? Someone else?
