The A's purchased Windsor's contract prior to Monday's game against the Orioles.
Windsor replaces Kirk Saarloos in the starting rotation, and, depending on the results of Rich Harden's exam with Dr. Lewis Yocum on Monday, could spend the rest of the year in the rotation.
I'd be interested to hear what traditional scouting reports on Windsor say. His k/9 is 10.12 this year at AAA and over 9 over his entire minor league career. His bb/9 is 2.70 which is right in line with his minor league numbers and his hr/9 is 0.40 this year and has never been high. My concern is that he's shown a tendancy to get hit (9.58 hits in play per 9 innings this season for example) that doesn't seem to mesh with the rest of his statistics. This could certainly be bad luck (he only has 212 professional ip on which to base our analysis) but it could also indicate that he is a more hittable than average pitcher that will struggle at the big league level. Given the k/9, bb/9 and hr/9 though I'd be very interested in hearing what the traditional scouting reports have to say about Windsor.
