Shannon Stewart reinjures foot, placed on DL

Stewart was placed on the 15-day disabled list after the game.


Stewart, the club's designated hitter, left the game following his at-bat in the fifth inning as he reinjured the plantar fascia in his left foot, an injury that had already caused him to miss 33 games this season. The Twins are expected to announce the recall Rondell White from Triple-A Rochester to take Stewart's place on the roster in time for Sunday's finale against the Indians.

At least it gives Gardenhire less incentive to bench Kubel.

That's what I was thinking as well, especially since the Twins have also placed Lew Ford on the DL. Kubel's knees have been acting up so I'm guessing White will play OF with Kubel getting plenty of DH chances if he's healthy.
