Torii Hunter leaves game

Apparently it is a left foot injury...no word on the severity yet.

Hunter had left the game following the second inning with pain in his left foot. Hunter came into the dugout and told Gardenhire that he couldn't run due to the tremendous amount of pain he was experiencing.

"He was pretty much close to having tears come out of his eyes," Gardenhire said of Hunter. "He just couldn't run."

The center fielder was sent to Abbott Northwestern Hospital, where X-rays of the foot proved to be inconclusive. Twins physician Dan Buss said Hunter will undergo an MRI on Sunday morning to try and further determine what is wrong with the foot.

Hunter broke his left ankle last season, forcing him to miss the final two months of the campaign. Hunter underwent surgery on the ankle, and has had some lingering soreness in the foot at times this year. But Hunter's current pain seems to be more toward his toes than toward the ankle.

well this sucks for me cause in my league we play by positions and there are no good centerfielders out there!!!!!!!!!!! had to pick up J HERMIDA. to start this week

Hermida could turn out to be a good pickup. You may also want to give Torri's replacement, Nick Punto a try. At least he steals some bases. Bernie Williams is on a hot streak right now. Not sure if he qualifies at CF though.

Just think, it could be worse. You could be the guy in horrible pain. Poor Torri, can't seem to get a full season in anymore.

HUNTER TO DL: The Minnesota Twins placed center fielder Torii Hunter on the 15-day disabled list Sunday after learning the five-time Gold Glove award winner has a stress fracture in his left foot. Outfielder Josh Rabe was recalled from Triple-A Rochester to take Hunter's place, and he is expected to join the team for Monday night's game against the Devil Rays.

AS WELL AS STEWART: Shannon Stewart was placed back on the 15-day disabled list after Saturday's game against the Indians due to his plantar fasciitis. He aggravated his injury legging out a grounder in the fifth inning and was replaced by Jason Kubel in the lineup.
