How come on the Yahoo updates it says he underwent successful surgery and is expected to be out for 4 weeks?

That's more up-to-date. He is now expected to be out 4-6 weeks. That does put him at late August-early September for his comeback though so if you keep in mind the rust he would have at that point I think you're still ok in dropping him unless you simply don't need the spot on the roster.

Yahoo really needs to get its crap together! They have that above, although it does say at least 4 weeks, and not 4 weeks. They have the same thing from KFFL and Stats. Then above, in red, it has the following written for his status:

15-day DL as of Jul 10, 2006 (Right forearm surgery - out for season)

What pisses me off is that I could have left him on my DL just in case. But they said it was pretty much a given that he was out for the rest of the season. Now to pick him back up, I need to drop someone.

So whats the deal with this guy is he done for the season or not? With this latest Liriano injury I have to decide between keeping Weeks or Patterson in my other DL slot once Liri is officially put on the DL. I dont want to drop patterson if he is going to come back this year. Anyone have any info????

Washington has no reason to chance pitching him again this year... if they do, I think it would be very light duty. If he does come back, he isn't going to be all that useful for fantasy teams. Once Liriano goes on the DL, I'd drop Patterson if I were you.
