Top Pitching Prospects close to callup

Postby FalcoAtL » Sat Jul 15, 2006 11:05 am

Who are some top guys that are really close to getting a chance in the big leagues or have a chance to play before the end of the season?

Most of the better pitching prospects have already been called up this year such as Pelfrey, Billinglsey, Lester. The top ones remaining will probably not receive a callup this year. Of the minor league pitchers remaining that should be called up this year, I would keep my eye on Jason Hirsch of Houston and Humberto Sanchez of Detroit.

Ubaldo Jiminez may have some good starts, and he'll likely be called up, but I'd shy away from him. He'll get a ton of Ks, but he walks way too many people.

Garza is probably the best (besides the two already mentioned) who will likely have some starts in September.

Garza will probably get a shot at some point soon, especially if he dominates at AAA like he has at every other stop this season.

Hughes could potentially get a shot at some point.

Outside of those two, every one has pretty much been called up or is too far away.

Maybe John Danks and Jason Hirsh.

Two of my favorite pitching prospects in Bailey/Hughes, I've heard won't get a shot this year in the bigs.

Garza maybe a late call up for the bull pen and if the Astros need help , Hirsh could get a look.

I doubt Sanchez gets called up before Sept. They have Maroth rehabbing . He'll send Miner back to the bullpen.Miner has pitched well so he'll stay around. Unless Rogers fall off the face of the earth the Tigers rotation is solid one through five.

I've heard the same, that they shouldn't crack the big league rotaion, until '07..

I'm really looking forward to Phillip Hughes.. ;-D
