Beltran Leaves Game In The 6th Inning

Postby SmartassBoiler » Fri Jul 14, 2006 4:39 pm

Apparently an aggravation of his All-Star game injury:

We're guessing this has something to do with Beltran's stretch to reach first base in the ninth inning of the All-Star Game. Endy Chavez took over in center field.

Rotoworld updated it to the fact he didn't come back out after the rain delay:

Beltran bruised the same knee and missed a couple of games last month. He might have tweaked the knee in the ninth inning of Tuesday's All-Star Game. Should Beltran be forced to miss some time, Endy Chavez will play center field.

I fully expect the Mets to give him ample time to rest being that they have an obscene lead in the NL East.

Short term, this sucks for my team but long term it's the right thing to do.

The guy has a history of leg/knee issues, had a knee injury earlier in the year and for some reason plays the entire all-star game. Someone is going to have to explain the reasoning behind that.

I'll kiss the sb's goodbye, he's got 25 homers, and close to 70 rbi's, kiss, kiss, if he were hitting for less power and a lower obp i'd be concerned about any lack of sb's.

I got beltran in the fourth round in my keeper league. His power numbers are top 25 imo. His SBs are just gravy right now. I was thinking he would make a run at 30-30 this year as opposed to 40-20, but I can't complain. Anything better than last year's bust I would've been happy with.

This kinda sucks. I've got a pending trade, acquiring Beltran for F. Liriano. Now I'm getting nervous... But hey, I can't argue with his power numbers. A sore knee is nothing anyway.
