Harden to see Yocum ... uh, oh

Postby duckbillgates » Fri Jul 14, 2006 3:08 pm

From Sportsline:

A's Harden to see Dr. Lewis Yocum
News: Rich Harden was originally scheduled to play catch Thursday, but those plans were scrapped when Harden and his agent requested to get a second opinion on his right elbow from Dr. Lewis Yocum, which will occur Monday in Los Angeles. Yocum, the Angels' team doctor, is a consultant for the A's and is frequently used to diagnose a variety of injuries. Analysis: Harden is also one of the nation's leading surgeons on "Tommy John" surgery, which the A's have previously insisted is not necessary for Harden. "I never fault a guy for wanting another opinion -- ever," A's trainer Larry Davis said. "The player has the right and should exercise that right whenever he wants. We've had a lot of guys see Lew. We value his opinion. It's perfectly fine with me. I have no problems whatsoever."

Always a red flag when you see his name in injury discussion, but it isn't always bad, sometimes precautionary. My heart nearly dropped when I read Peavy was making a visit also, turned out no structural damage....however I see Yocum as the grim reaper.
