Luis Matos signed by Nats

Postby George Bell » Fri Jul 14, 2006 1:33 pm

Oft injured and perpetually disappointing outfielder Luis Matos has signed with the Washington Nationals. Marlon Byrd has been designated for assignment.

If the Nationals follow through with rumoured trades, Matos could be a potential source of SB the rest of the season. He stole 17 and hit .280 for the O's in '05.

Was he out of baseball? he had a good first half last year if I'm remembering correctly.
Let's go O's. Let's go Mets.

This has got to eliminate any last shread of doubt about Soriano being moved.

I think Guillen will be moved before Soriano.

LF Soriano
CF Matos and other Platoon
RF Kearns

This is especially after hearing the Nats' GM on ESPN. He sounded resigned to the fact Guillen would be dealt.
