New York Daily News:
Jose Reyes - SS - Mets
According to the New York Daily News, Jose Reyes (pinkie) isn't ready to return to the lineup.
Reyes got seven stitches to his left pinkie when he was spiked on a headfirst slide into first base last Friday. He's still unable to put his glove on over the injury. Willie Randolph expects Reyes back this weekend.

Jose Reyes (finger) took infield practice Friday after hitting on Thursday.
"The main thing for him is to get over how he feels when he catches the ball, line drives and all that stuff," manager Willie Randolph said. "Once he gets over that, who knows, he might be playing (Saturday)."

Daily notes on your players from rototimes.com 07.16

Manager Willie Randolph said that Jose Reyes, who is recovering from a cut on his left pinkie, is available to pinch hit and pinch run if needed, according to the AP. Randolph hopes to have Reyes back in the field by the end of the week ...

I need him to get healthy....

New York Post
CHICAGO - Jose Reyes couldn't start in the final three games before the All-Star break or the first three games after it.

The Mets shortstop, though, believes his absence from the field is over.

Reyes didn't start last night for the sixth straight game with a cut left pinky finger, but said before the game, "I'll be ready by [tomorrow] in Cincinnati."

Reyes received seven stitches in the finger after he was spiked by the Marlins' Mike Jacobs while sliding into first base two Fridays ago at Shea Stadium. Yesterday the All-Star shortstop said he still felt mild pain.

"A little bit there," he said when asked if it still hurt. "[There's] still a little swelling there. Not that bad. It's gotten a lot better in the last couple of days."

Chris Woodward, who hit a solo home run in the Mets' 13-7 win over the Cubs, has played six straight games at shortstop.

Willie Randolph seemed at least a little optimistic that Reyes would be able to retake his spot atop the Mets lineup tomorrow.

"I think the extra day will help him [today]," the Mets manager said. "It'll be the third day of ground balls, so I'm sure he's feeling more confident that he can put his hand out there and take a hard line drive or something like that. But I'm looking forward to hoping to pencil him in on Tuesday."
