RHP Matt Garza, the 22-year-old Fresno State product who was the Minnesota Twins' 1st round selection in the 2005 Draft, has been promoted to Rochester in the Triple-A International League. The 6'4"/190 lbs. hurler was little short of sensational in his ten Double-A starts in New Britain. He ends his stint with the 2006 Rock Cats with a 6-2 W-L record, an ERA of 2.51, an opponents' BA of .190, and a K/BB ratio of 68/14. Despite joining the Rock Cats some six weeks into the 2006 Season, Garza was a near unanimous selection to the 2006 Eastern League All-Star team and, indeed, tossed a scoreless inning in last night's Mid-Summer Classic in Altoona, PA. He will immediately join the Rochester rotation.
