For the near future, yes. Unfortunately, Ensberg will be getting the worst of this situation because of how well Lamb and Preston Wilson have been hitting recently, so Garner will have to stick with them til they slow - especially since theyve had little offense.

I have a feeling, as a long time Astros fan, that this will be a play-the-hot-hand situation between Wilson, Lamb, Huff, and Ensberg for the rest of the season.

I can't help but think there is a little more going on than the Stros are admitting publicly...You've got a guy who hit 36 HR - 100+ RBI last year, and who already hit 19 HR this year...I don't think you give up on him unless KNOW why he is in a slump (i.e. his shoulder is screwed).

Astros placed third baseman Morgan Ensberg on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Monday, with a right shoulder contusion.

This smells like a bogus injury to me....it will allow Ensberg to try and work through his slump in a rehab assignment.

He may have 19 HR 44 RBI but he is also hitting .236 and has come up empty in some big key spots recently. The writing was on the wall for Morgan Ensberg when Phil Garner announced that Mike Lamb was his 1B for the rest of the year(Vs RHP anyway).

A lot of Astros fans I have talked to wondered if Ensberg was trying to hide an injury much like he did a few years ago when a shoulder injury zapped all his power. This will allow Morgan to maybe get right, if the Astros are going to challenge for the NL Central or the WC I believe they truly need Morgan Ensbergs bat and glove at 3B, with Huff playing 1B or OF.
