Seriously, I have always stood by Cashman and his moves, but I believe he needed to make a much better move then this guy.
The Yankees lost nothing by picking him up. I just heard that St. Louis continues to pay his salary (unless someone can show me otherwise?).
If that's the case, who really gives a crap about the signing? He can eat innings, and certainly will not be a worse option that Shawn Chacon has been.
All you Yankee fans piss and moan about getting Ponson for absolutely nothing. You forget that last year the Yankees picked up two nobodys that got them into the playoffs (Chacon and Small).
Now if the Yankees lost absolutely nothing in this signing, what's the big deal? I agree that you can't bank on Ponson giving you ANYTHING, but you know what? The Yankees staff is awful right now, and anything positive that he can give you is a bonus.
