Yeah, terrible move. We have zero guys to eat up innings right now and we acquired him for nothing, or virtually nothing. Let's all huff and puff about it. :-?

And you get what you pay for most of the time.

Unless you are Cluesless Cashman...then you just pay.

the yanks are paying him a prorated amount of his 2006 salary of $1 Million, so it can't be too much.

the guy won 17 games in 2003...I don't expect him to be a #1 guy, but for $500K he could win 50% of his games. this was definitely a low risk/medium reward move. i am sure last year when cashman acquired chacon, people said the same thing, but look how that turned out. he is definitely worth the price. they might just catch lightning in a bottle again.

Seriously, I have always stood by Cashman and his moves, but I believe he needed to make a much better move then this guy.

The Yankees lost nothing by picking him up. I just heard that St. Louis continues to pay his salary (unless someone can show me otherwise?).

If that's the case, who really gives a crap about the signing? He can eat innings, and certainly will not be a worse option that Shawn Chacon has been.

All you Yankee fans piss and moan about getting Ponson for absolutely nothing. You forget that last year the Yankees picked up two nobodys that got them into the playoffs (Chacon and Small).

Now if the Yankees lost absolutely nothing in this signing, what's the big deal? I agree that you can't bank on Ponson giving you ANYTHING, but you know what? The Yankees staff is awful right now, and anything positive that he can give you is a bonus.
