Kendrick vs Gordon

Postby BUCCOFAN » Thu Jul 13, 2006 11:34 am

I am in a 14 team keeper league, Fantasy Points Auction style.

I am in deep discussions, on a monster deal, inlvovling other players, but part of the deal has these two swaping sides.

I GET:

A.Gordon

I MOVE:

H.Kendrick

Who would you rather have???
Who is closer to the show???
Who has the higher ceiling???
Both are all-stars right???

Gordon > Kendrick

... really no need for discussion. Kendrick will be good but his ceiling isn't as high as the top 5 or so prospects out there.

Gordon >>> Kendrick

The best example of where Gordon could end up would be David Wright. The two are very similar in skill set. Howie Kendrick is more of a .330/.370/.520 guy with a lot of doubles and possible 20/20 ability. Gordon could possibly put up .310/.390/.590 with 40/15 seasons. Not that either one of them will definitely do this...those are highly optimistic projections for both as far as ceiling goes. But the top end of what both can do isn't even close.

So Gordon is like D. Wright and Kendrick is like Sizemore?

Close on the Sizemore comparison but Kendrick doesn't have near the hr/sb upside that Sizemore has. He also is a much better pure hitter.

true, but you also must consider that Kendrick is 2nd base which makes him pretty valuable.

No question that the position eligibility is an issue as far as value goes.

Both are good and right now Kendrick is the better hitter, but Gordon has a much higher ceiling than Kendrick does. Kendrick in his best year would be a .350 20/20 type of guy (and win the batting title). Gordon will probably emerge as a .300 40+ HR type (AL MVP contender).

I think those would be very optimistic numbers. But kind of the right idea for both
