Why do we always say the second half?

Well I guess you could say back-end of the season, but I doubt it will catch on. I wouldn't go around talking about what a great back-end Glavine had last year.

A three-hundred hitter is not hitting three-hundred. He's hitting zero point three.

A bases-loaded walk or hit-by-pitch gives a run batted in even though the run is not batted in.

A sacrifice fly doesn't involve any intention of sacrifice.

The shortshop is really a second baseman, only on the other side of the base. Against left-handed hitters, he is really much more a second baseman than the second baseman.

A player can be safe at first on a strike“out”.

The All-Star Game may include Mark Redman.

Such is baseball. ;-)

:-b The AL better thank Ozzie for not putting him in the game. NL would've broken the streak. When I was watching the game I saw Redman warming up...I didn't understand why Ozzie would even have him up. He probably started throwing on his own just to make it look like he was going to get called into the game :-b

You're starting to scare me. :-o

Like those ESPN Mobile commercials where they are on the bike and the announcer tells the guy his fantasy tight end looks good. :-o :-o

I could be wrong, but wasn't the ASG game always played in the first few days of July (i.e. halfway point of season) up until a few years ago.

Maybe the term is a leftover from the last few decades.

What? You don't agree that Glavine had a very impressive back-end last year? Sure it wasn't as stunning as John Santana's back-end in 2004, but you don't see back-ends like that very often.
