Pedro Martinez??

What do you guys think of Pedro in the 2nd half? Do you think he will hold up or be on the decline? What is the status of his injury?

I have been offered Pedro and Prior for Verlander and Colon, but Prior is pretty much a DL machine and Pedro has a hurt hip, so I am not sure if I should do the deal.

I have heard that Pedro's fastball is peaking out in the upper 80's know so I am starting to doubt him.

Any insight? WHIR

but im sure if it was something serious we wouldve heard by now..

Even if Pedro holds up, I wouldn't do the trade. Prior's not throwing well, and he's back on the DL.

And I don't think Pedro will last at the end of the season. Neither may Verlander, but at least Colon is not a DL bum.

News: Pedro Martinez's recovery from inflammation in his right hip (on the disabled list since July 6, retroactive to June 29) has been hampered by a bad piece of chicken. Martinez has been ill since Tuesday evening after eating chicken for dinner. "I feel better today than I have in a couple days," he said Friday.

Analysis: Martinez looked weak and said he was dehydrated from his sickness. Before the game he said he was planning on playing catch and said his hip was feeling better, probably good enough to return next week for his scheduled start. "We'll see how he feels when he gets on the mound," Mets manager Willie Randolph said, adding that Martinez will "make that call" of when he's ready to return.

I think it's just Pedro being his typical prima donna self. It doesn't sound serious and I think he'll be just fine. I can see him getting extra rest here and there, and not going real deep into games in the second half, but he pitched very well in the first half, save the Boston game, and I see no reason for that to change.

Pedro will be fine.

I was checking Pedro's numbers the other day thinking of making a move for him, and I noticed his ERA, K/9, etc all have dropped off a bit the last few years in August and September...not that it matters because there is no way you should do this trade...2 DL pitchers (one unlikely to come back) for 2 healthy starters (1 kicking arse, and everyone says he is going to fade, but it hasnt happened yet, and the other last year's cy young)...thats a no brainer, don't cripple your team.
