Manny at DH, Papi at 1B & Youklis in the OF somewhere?
They wouldn't do that on a regular basis. I could see it happening a few time over the rest of the year, but not too often. Plus, usually when Francona does something to the lineup to give someone rest, he benches all the good players on the same day so that we have no chance of winning, and Manny as DH, Papi at 1B, and Youk in the OF is too logical.
Yeah, it sure seems like that.
He's shown that he won't give Manny a rest at DH and put Ortiz at 1st. Maybe things change now with the injury.
Which really makes it even stupider that the media keep bagging on Manny. He's really hurt, okay people? Yeesh.
Carroll, by the way, has this to say:
Ramirez is suffering from a small tear in the medial meniscus of his right knee. It’s an injury he can play with, but one that can “grind,” a bone-on-bone situation that is unpredictable and painful.

Should he really get credit for either of those when he isn't hurt?

Not to jump out at you, but I'm sick of Manny being made fun of for his bad fielding. He's really not that bad. He's made some bonehead plays, and there's the occasional mental lapse where he doesn't even see a fly ball or something, but for all those plays he makes, he makes one where he slides into the wall down the foul line, or guns a guy down at 2nd. He plays the green monster like no one else I've ever seen, and deserves much more credit than he is given.
He ALWAYS looks like he needs a map when he's in the outfield, but I agree that he is a pretty good fielder, although nothing spectacular.

I don't think anybody's come out and said he's had a tear, and it's a little irritating to have to answer it." Tear or not, Ramirez's knee is obviously an issue heading into the second half.
