X-Rays negative, but it kept him from pitching in the game. Not clear yet whether this will affect upcoming starts.

"He wasn't able to throw," National League manager Phil Garner said. "Let's just leave it at that."

He was asked if he was kidding.

"I wish I were," Garner said.

Zambrano was not available for comment.

From Rototimes

Jul. 12 Carlos Zambrano (P) ChC will most likely miss his scheduled start Friday and could be placed on the disabled list after being accidentally hit with a fungo bat during the All-Star game batting practice, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Zambrano was approaching the batting cage to do an interview when Joey Cora, a coach with the AL team, hit Zambrano with his backswing. Zambrano suffered a bruised pitching elbow as a result of the incident.

I blame Dusty Baker. He doesn't know how to take care of the arms of his young pitchers. He should have been standing there to stop that bat! :-D

Seriously, what were Zambrano and Cora doing so close to each other while Cora was hitting fungos? Isn't the field big enough that you can do interviews safely away from people swinging bats?

I'd prefer that bat to have hit Baker's face than Zambrano's shadow.
Let's go O's. Let's go Mets.

Chicago's 670 The Score AM is reporting that Zambrano will not miss his scheduled start on Friday.

EDIT: Start is for Saturday, the 15th, not Friday.
