Prior Considering 2-year, $8 million offer from the DL

Postby d18Mike » Tue Jul 11, 2006 10:27 am

This from July 10 edition of The Onion .... Prior owners will appreciate

"Mark Prior, the righthanded pitcher who has spent the first few years of his career on the disabled list, is now considering accepting a recent two-year, $8 million offer from the DL that would keep him not playing through the 2008 season. 'I couldn't even imagine the DL without Mark Prior -- over the years, he has become the face, stiff right elbow, strained subscapularis muscle and inflamed Achilles' tendon of our organization,' said Kirk Gibson, manager and longtime former member of the DL . . . 'We firmly believe Mark's best injuries are still ahead of him.' "

That must be from the 15-Day team. I'm sure he could get a better deal from the 60-Day team.

He's too young to settle for a 2-year deal. This is a guy deserving of a long-term A-Rod level contract. He needs to have Boras negotiate for him and threaten to advise Prior to stay healthy if he doesn't get at least a 6-year/102 million dollar deal.

Carl Pavano has only pitched 100 innings since becoming a Yankee. He wants to be the face of the DL.

Not sure they have much more $$$ to spend with Wood and Harden signed though that time, but it could happen.

Pavano would have to go on the DL's DL cause he sat down wrong.
