Don't look now but Brian Meadows is 5 for 5 in save chances. He's not over powering but has been getting the job done.Don't forget Danny Kolb saved about 50 plus games in a year and a half with throwing 95 mph. So did Todd Jones. They are working with Seth McClung in the minors who does throw hard but is wild.Anybody looking for cheap saves might want to take a look. Even if you only get a handful its better then nothing and could mean the difference in your league.

He's owned in 97.7 percent of ESPN leagues, so it's not like he's widely available to anyone looking for cheap saves.

As a side note, it sounds like McClrug is doing pretty well in AAA. If they are truely grooming him to be a closer, it makes sense ti give him a shot as the summer progresses. I would not rate Meadow's job security to be tremendously high since 1) he is not very good and will probably blow up at some point and 2) he is not considered the long-term solution.

Are you sure McClung isn't throwing in the 9th? Both the St. Pete Times and the Orlando Sentinel have indicated that the Rays envision him as their closer.

McClung came in the 9th in a losing game last time out but when he was first sent down he worked in long relief.

McClung has 3 or 4 pitches with one of them being a 100mph fastaball and I know TB doesn't want to not waste his skills.
McClung need to build up his confidence first. And it's really hard for Tampa to ignore whatever scoreless inning streak Salas is on.

Salas and his slider looked good in the Futures Game
Like you said, he is a converted 3B and is 27 so who knows how much lack of experience will play in his future of being called up or not
