Patterson to the DL according to Rotoworld
Nationals placed RHP John Patterson on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 10, with a strained right forearm.
Patterson probably won't be back before the end of the month. Michael O'Connor figures to be recalled next week to replace him in the rotation, but before then, the Nationals will call up Kevin Gryboski to aid the pen. Jul. 14 - 7:42 pm et

Think it's safe to drop him now? My DL spots are already in use.

I myself dropped him & given your situation you should probably drop him; Also from the quotes I've been reading from Frank Robinson, Patterson won't be back until he feels 100% & who knows when that'll be.

From Rotoworld:
The Washington Post reports that John Patterson's (forearm) chances of "being lost for the season appear increasingly high."
Patterson will be examined by doctors Monday and undergo an MRI Tuesday, at which point the Nationals will have a good idea of his prognosis. "This is not career-ending," Patterson said. "Is it disappointing? Yeah. Does it mess up my season? Yeah. Did I have better hopes for this season? Absolutely. So did everybody. It just didn't happen this year." Jul. 15 - 11:04 am et
