Im ever so happy i picked this guy up off the waiver wire earlier in the year. He now has the best ERA in the NL for a starter and is a servicable option because he gets a decent amount of K's as well. This kid has done everything he can to make a run at NL ROY.
continue to do amazing with average peripherals. I've been predicting him blowing up for a while now and he has yet to do that. Though with tons of warning sign(high hits, high walks, high pitch count, 105 pitches thru 5 and then pulled...)
I stand behind my statement that he'll have a ERA over 3.5 when the season is over.

His WHIP is less than stellar, so I don't expect this to continue. Granted, Uggla's error yesterday inflated his WHIP numbers for yesterday, but on the season he's still a bit high in that cat. However, the wins, ERA, and K help is nice so I've still got him on one team.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
I'm not too much concerned about the WHIP, as it isn't alway indicative of over-achieving. His is quite similar to that of Beckett, Oswalt, and Zambrano. It's also lower than players like Zito, Harang, Glavine, Kazmir, and Buehrle. I can understand justifying his success as luck if it were only a few starts, but 12 quality starts in a row says something.
the kids been unbelievable this year.. and its suprising how people post about johnson being available in the draft trade forum.. wanted to pick him up a while ago.. someone beat me to him though.. oh well
Florida's horrible defense is a contributer to the high WHIP, but it's not like he fixed his control problem at all. The only thing going for him is that he doesn't give up homers. But you'd expect those baserunners to score more often. And the guy doesn't have overpowering stuff. Basically 2 good pitches(slider and a 94mph fastball) too. Don't have a polished changeup.

Actually, you're wrong. His stuff is very good. He's always been young for his leagues and he completely skipped AAA. Pitchers with only two good pitches don't make that kind of leap and have success. You completely forgot to mention his best pitch, the low 90s sinker that hitters can only pound into the dirt. His changeup has been improving and I think it'll eventually be a plus pitch. So you're looking at a guy who throws 4 pitches, keeps the ball down and knows how to pitch out of jams. He's not going to collapse. He probably won't finish with an ERA in the low 2.00's, but hitters aren't all of a sudden going to start killing him. Johnson will continue to be a good fantasy option for the balance of the season and is a sleeper candidate for keeper leagues as well.
Daniel Cabrera will win 20 games with a 3.00 ERA and 1.25 WHIP!
Oliver Perez will win 15 games with a 2.75 ERA and 1.15 WHIP!
Ron Villone will take over as Yankees closer and save 55 games!
Sleeper of the month: Brandon Duckworth!
