Sowers performance today

Postby Mreater71 » Sun Jul 09, 2006 12:50 am

Doesn't look like Sowers is living up to some of the hype that he was getting when he got called up. Is it that he is having a rough start and will turn around as the season goes? Or will he continue to have this type of season?

It's too early to say anything. You have to always remember he is a rookie and he will get roughed up every now and then. Has Hamels lived up to the hype? Has Billingsley lived up to the hype? It's not everyone who can come up to the big leagues and perform like Jered Weaver. ;-) And that doesn't mean those pitchers are short of talent or will never be able to put up nice numbers in the Majors. Sowers was able to keep the Yankees to only 2 runs in 7IP last start. Not bad at all.

Be patient with him. ;-D

kimchi you are too nice.

the bottom line is the guy doesnt look like he's major league ready yet. in a keeper he's very valuable and a great talent. but i wouldnt count on him for this year. he may get a couple lucky starts the rest of the way if he stays up, but i wouldnt give him a roster spot based on what i've seen so far.

The problem is we see guys like Kazmir & J Weaver shredding and expect others to do so...but yeah, in keepers they're golden...and maybe even as the season goes on they'll get better...remember, last year Verlander wasn't very good in his limited time up.

Same can be said for Liriano as well.
