Who is J Rivera?

Postby mcliffy2 » Sun Jul 09, 2006 12:43 am

He is starting to get my attention...5 HR this week (another one tonight).

His line for the season is:
29 R, 11 HR 36 RBI, .342 OBP in only 179 AB. If he had started out playing every day, that is about 35 HR, 110 RBI pace.

He had 15 HR in 350 AB last year, so the power isn't out of nowhere, and he is at that 27 yr. old break out age, and seems to be an every day player for the Angels now. (I think, can someone verify?)

I picked him up two days ago, reshuffling my line up because Jeff Kent is out again. I was a day late for the 2 HR effort, but tonight's was cool. ;-D

He looks like he's an everyday player to me, especially since he's sometimes DH on the Angels rotating DH list.

Anyone else have thoughts on this guy? Starting to really really think about a replacement for Ensberg (I swear I mean it this time Ensberg).

He started off the year really slow, but has picked it up in July. It's worth noting that he has 9 hrs against rhp, and just 2 against lefties, although he is hitting .296 against lhp and .269 against rhp.

I was pissed when the Yanks let him go. I met him and got his autograph while he was here. Nice guy.

If he keeps hitting decently like he has been, I don't see how the Angels can afford to bench him. They need bats, so anyone who looks like they have some sort of ability/hot streak they'll probably stick around for awhile. Worth a flyer.

He's a notorious 1st half dud, 2nd half stud. He's going to get a lot more abs this 2nd half.

Your thinking of Ruben Rivera who stole Jeters glove out of his locker. Must've been really desperate.
