Who cares about the All-Star game, I mean its pointless now, the only way it effects me from a fantasy stand point is if my player gets hurt, but thats all there is... Do you get a win in H2H if you have more all-stars then the other guy, or extra points in ROTO if you have more... its pointless arguing over it, its all out of our hands anyway...
It controls home field advantage in the World Series. Pointless?
It's the summer classic. The stars of the league are all on the same field. Tell me how many times you can see that a season. The best pitchers vs. the best hitters. Pedro stirking out the big steroid boys in order. You can't see that in a regular season game.
Besides, what other sporting event is there to watch that day?
My keeper league has a little Canada vs USA thing for the all-star game, where we have 7 Canadian managers, and 7 American ones, and we make our own all-star game. Where all the MLB Allstars from the canadian managers go against the american ones in a H2H 5x5, one day challenge. So yea, it does have some fun fantasy relevance, and plus it decides home field advantage, but i think thats one of the dumbest moves ever made by baseballs head office.
The Mets will win the World Series this year.
Exactly. Just enjoy the game. It's a chance to see a sampling of the best players in the game face off against each other, without any of the scrubby players taking up at-bats.
I love all-star weekend. I love the home-run derby too.

I like the All-Star game, but can't really stomach the HR derby. Chris Berman makes me want to shoot myself. That man has no business being near a baseball microphone, and the derby just gives him tons of time to fill up the space with non-stop jabbering.

Every ball that is hit 425 ft. during the derby. "Back Back Back Back Back Back Back Back Back Back Back...Oh my, it just landed in Erie!"
