Gagne's season officially over

Postby gbill2004 » Fri Jul 07, 2006 9:28 pm

From ESPN:

Gagne to have back surgery, miss rest of season

LOS ANGELES -- Eric Gagne will have season-ending surgery Saturday to repair a herniated disc in his lower back, the latest injury to sideline the Los Angeles Dodgers' All-Star closer.

The announcement was made about 3½ hours before Friday night's game against the San Francisco Giants. The 2003 NL Cy Young Award winner woke up with back pain Tuesday and received an epidural injection along with a nerve block and an MRI, neither of which produced the desired results.

The operation will be performed by Dr. Robert Watkins at St. Vincent Medical Center.

He should've only been taken with a mid-late round pick anyway, so the risk wasn't that big.

Lovely... my first draft did not work out quite how I planned either, considering I drafted Gagne as my second closer. Oh well, I've discovered Putz & Otsuka since Gagne went down so it ain't all bad.

Guess it isn't even worth keeping him in my DL spot now... could pick someone else up for that who may have value later this year.

Good news for Saito owners.......for now.
Basically I'm complicated.
I have a hard time taking the easy way
I wouldn't call it schizophrenia
But Ill be at least two people today

If that's OK

And I can go on, and on, and on...

But who cares?
