Indians 3B prospect, hitting .400 in AA this year, though he's a bit old(25)

line .432/.486/.678. ISOP is also pretty good. Looking back at his stats it seems like he's teared up every where he played but was moved along too slowly. Now I know that he had some untimely injuries. Also he's blocked by Marte. But other than what the stats tell me I don't know much about his tools. I know he's injury prone, but what do you guys think about him?

Also, what do you guys think about Ryan Garko.

Got those 2 for Chris Denorfia in a deal

Kouz pretty much is just an injury concern like you mentioned.....

He got drafted out of college in '03 and went to A- ball and put up mediocore numbers there but then the next year in '04 he dominated A ball and got promoted to AA where he struggled a bit in very limited time. He started off in A ball again in '05 where he was dominating but then got hurt (back problems) during the second half of that year. Now this year he has been hurt two different times with hamstring problems. So yes, he has been an injury concern the last couple years and is "older" because he was drafted out of college (22 yrs old) and just couldn't consistantly get things going, whether it was the transition to AA a couple years ago or just getting injured. If he can stay healthy then yes, his numbers are legit but this is his first year above A ball (24ABs at AA in '04) so there is still some question what he can do at higher levels.

To me Garko is a solid player but I don't know that he will be anything more than a .285 20-25HR .350OBP type of major leaguer, which will keep him in the league for quite a while but isn't much of a factor as a 1B for fantasy baseball players, IMO.

I like Kouz/Garko more than Denorfia. I'd say Denorfia will be in the same boat as Garko and that is a solid major leaguer for a long time in the majors but his numbers won't blow you away for fantasy purposes.

I'd say you made a solid deal, IMO.

I thought Denorfia is just a lesser version of Andre Ethier? is that about right?

I don't like that comparison much. Denorfia is a slender guy with some ok speed, not much power type. Where Ethier has a pretty good frame and is developing more and more power. I like Ethier quite a bit more than Denorfia. Ethier could well be a .300 30 type of player when all is said and done. I see Denorfia more like an Erstad type .275-.280, 10-12 hr, 15ish SB

....just my opinion

I think he has that potential, yes. Will he ever get there, who knows. Power is the last to develop and he has a nice frame to fill in as well. He hit 18 HR and 30 2B last year in AAA and is doing nicely this year in the bigs. Give him a couple 2-3 years in the bigs and I think he can develop into a .300 30 type of guy. He's got a good eye and is a solid hitter for average so if his progression goes up just a little the next couple of years he will be there.

Project out his first year in the bigs (550 ABs) and he is on pace for 20 hr and 33 2B........ not to shabby, especially in Dodgers Stadium. That .352 avg looks nice as well. Anyway, I like his potential but we will see what he can do with it.
