It's over for Tyler Walker

Postby ordinarygenius » Wed Jul 05, 2006 11:36 pm

Rotoworld says:
"Tyler Walker learned during a visit with Dr. James Andrews that his injured elbow will require Tommy John surgery. He's out for the season.
Although Walker was closing for the Rays before getting hurt, he's a below average reliever and he had no place in the club's long-term plans. Brian Meadows is filling in as the closer right now. The job could belong to Seth McClung beginning next month."

Well, using him cautiously, I got 1 win, 8 saves and a 1.24 WHIP. I wish him the best.

Yes he will. He outperformed both Wickman and Benitez, my pair of halfwitted closers.

Look at this way, if he's going in for TJ, that probably means he wasn't at 100% this year, so a year or so from now, if the TJ and therapy go well, he may come back better than he was... It's happened.

I look at TJ like giving a race car driver new tires in the middle of a race... It takes a while in the pit stop, but the new tires have a bit more grip than the old ones and he can hit the throttle a little harder than he was before the change.
