Is this for real?
Yep, Freidman said it on the radio today. They talked about it this morning and Upton agreed.
Finally. I've been wondering what the hell was taking so long - Lugo is a good SS, Upton is not, he has a hose, and his bat is ready for the Bigs. This works well for the DRays.
I assume Upton will be the one called up for Huff?
Freidman said he will still have time to work at SS (and possibly move back later), but that BJ was willing to see how 3B went and try to help out the Rays in a position they need. But of course that's just if he ever gets to a point where the rays are comfortable moving him back. Something that may come int the picture when Evan is ready.
I think they will give Upton a bit more time in AAA at 3B, but I assume he could get called up if need be. They will probably try and let Wiggy hold it down at first.

Seems you know a helluva lot more about the current Rays' situation than I do, so the question begs: Who will replace Huff's spot on the roster? Dukes, Young, Upton? Someone else.
I could see Dukes taking over in the OF. He's a stud, pretty damn close to ready, and they could showcase him a bit for a trade at the deadline.
I was thinking Upton, but it would make more sense to give him some time at Durham to adjust to 3B.
And Young could obviously fill the hole, but I'd assume they're going to wait until September to call him up to prove that his attitude will not be tolerated.
Right now I wouldn't be surprised if they just added another pitcher to the roster, as they need all the help they can basically get there. Dukes to me isn't getting more then a late season call up after another out burst in AAA a couple weeks ago. If Delmon didn't throw his bat, I'd think he would be defiantly up right now, but it's hard to say how much the Rays are willing to promote him after all that has happened. If Wiggy does well at 3B, then I think that gives Upton more time and more of a chance Delmon will be the first.
