Why I traded him after a series of good starts. When he's on, about 3/4ths of his games, he's excellent to very good, the other 1/4, he can be just okay or get rocked...

Still can't be too mad when his end line is 7 IP, 3 ER, 7 K, he just got no run support. Heck, he pitched better than Santana did against the ROYALS yesterday...just goes to show you pitching is always something of a crap shoot, even with the best.

You can't complain about run support with Beckett, his average run support is 7.01, and he has 10 wins. ;-D

I'm in an 11 team 5x5 mixed league, no WW, but we do have a 3 round mid-season draft at the Allstar Break. I just traded Beckett (a keeper at 10 bucks) for the following:

First round pick (5th overall)
Third round pick (27th overall)
Paul Byrd

I think Jered Weaver will be out there with the 1st rounder (my league typically drafts closers first at mid-season, and Putz, Julio, Otsuka, Saito and Sosa are still out there).

The third round pick may bring me a David DeJesus or Corey Hart type. In essence , I could end up with Jered Weaver, Paul Byrd and DeJesus for Beckett-all three would be keepers at 5 bucks next year.
