Jordan Tata pitches another gem!
Jordan Tata tossed a three-hitter and Josh Phelps went 3-for-3 to lead visiting Toledo to an 8-0 victory over Louisville in the opener of Wednesday's doubleheader.
Tata (6-3) struck out three and walked two in his third career shutout and first this season.
After hitting an RBI single in the first inning, Phelps hammered a two-run homer during a three-run fourth to give the Mud Hens a 6-0 lead. The blast was Phelps' second in three games and 12th of the season. In his second game with Toledo, Christopher Maples slugged a two-run shot in the fifth to cap the scoring.
Ryan Raburn went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI. Kevin Hooper also collected a pair of hits and an RBI, while Jack Hannahan drove in one run.
The Mud Hens (48-38), who won their third consecutive game, lead the International League with 84 roundtrippers and 12 shutouts.
Norris Hopper went 2-for-2 for the Bats (44-41), who have lost six straight. Edwin Encarnacion doubled with two outs in the fourth, but was stranded when Tata fanned Dewayne Wise.
Louisville starter Steven Kelly (1-2) surrendered eight runs on 11 hits and three walks, striking out two over 5 1/3 innings, before Ryan Wagner retired the last five batters.
