Rafael Soriano

He was not available to pitch today. When asked why the manager replied, "I'd rather not say."

No other info available right now. My two thoughts are he was a bad boy and got in trouble or he's being traded. The latter could have fairly large implications so it's something to keep an eye on.

Soriano hasn't pitched since June 28, and though the Mariners haven't given any indication that anything wrong, a source told the Post-Intelligencer's John Hickey that Soriano is hurting. Given that he's been asked to undertake the heaviest workload in the Seattle pen, it wouldn't be much of a surprise if his arm is bothering him.

Man...I just traded him away...glad he wasn't the main part of the deal or that would be crappy for the other guy.

This is the spin on Yahoo:

Jul 2 The Seattle Post-Intelligencer's John Hickey reports Seattle Mariners RP Rafael Soriano (undisclosed) did not pitch either July 1 or 2 due to an undisclosed injury, which manager Mike Hargrove indicated was nothing serious.

Soriano got lit up for 3 runs in 1 inning yesterday. What's with the not-serious, "undisclosed" injury?

It turns out whenever a pitcher (for example: Mark Mulder) gets lit up, they usually have an injury and end up on the DL.
