A-Rod has hit HR and RBI at a higher rate and scored Runs at about the same rate as Jeter.
My point isnt that Jeter is a better hitter. Its that Jeter helped bring the Yankees 4 world series rings. The fans appreciate that. What has A-Rod won for the Yankees....or the Rangers....or the Mariners.
Just for the record... Jeter didn't win rings... the Yankees did. He, nor A-Rod, will ever 'win a ring for the Yankees'. The Yankees, in their most recent 4 WS victories, have proven time and time again that the entire team must be in synch, with great hitting and pitching and a little bit of luck. So, that argument holds absolutely no water. Spoken like one of the Yankee fans you'd run into in the street.
Furthermore, yay, I'm glad this, what started out as a quality thread, has degenerated down into 'stoopid a-choke runned over arroyo so he stinx' as if there weren't 3 dozen threads that beat that horse dead at the time of the incident. Can't we possibly keep this on its original topic, and actually have a grown up discussion? I, for one, appreciate the stats that HOOTIE threw out there, and think that anybody thinking that Alex Rodriguez is anything short of one of the best hitters you're ever going to see, is smoking some wacky tobacky.
If Karl Malone had won an NBA championship he would be rated much higher in NBA history. If Dan Marino won a super bowl he might be thought of as the best quarterback of all time. If A-Rod won a world series.....

Ted Williams.
Williams in the '46 World Series:
.200 BA
.333 OBP
1 RBI
0 HR
That's a good point that he's never brought into that conversation. For a 7 game series those are atrocious numbers. It's a shame he missed 5 years and never got back there, but he failed on the big stage. I think the difference, even if it's unfair, is that ARod was brought to town for the sole purpose of winning a WS, and since he hasn't he's a "choker."

You're going to judge a 20 year career on seven games?

What? I don't understand where you're going with this. What was your point with Williams then? Of course I'm not judging him with those 7 games...he's the best hitter in baseball. The point is he failed during his chance on the biggest stage and isn't really called on for that. ARod has done well in the playoffs but he's called a choker.
