News
Monday will be Cliff Floyd’s last game of the season. The New York Daily News reports the Mets’ outfielder intends to end his 2003 campaign when their current homestand ends on Monday, and then undergo right heel surgery on August 28 or 29. Floyd has been plagued by a sore right Achilles’ all season and surgery is needed to shave down a bone that has been grating on the tendon.

By doing the surgery now, Floyd will be ready in time for spring training. His numbers were off this year in part because of the nagging pain. Thus he should come at a reduced price in fantasy auctions next March.
