What is up with Jorge Cantu?

Postby spacehamster01 » Fri Jun 30, 2006 8:40 pm

I drafted him for those RBIs and some HRs. In his 21 games since coming off the DL he as been making contact well, hitting .290 at the moment but only has 3 RBI in his last 10 games and 2 HRs in those 21 games since coming back. Anyone else feeling the frustration?

Pitchers found out that Cantu cant take a walk. 19 BB in 598 AB is terrible. They changed their approach to him, and his power #'s have suffered because of it.

I didnt think he would break 20 HR this year.

I just clicked on the TB box score, and Cantu goes deep.

he was also hurt, and being hurt for a long period time, it takes awhile for you to get your swing back and look at live pitching again...

Slide me some of what you're smoking. I'd go more in the 13-15 range. 19 seems out of the question to me; though I have been wrong before.

His HR/F is down to just 7.4%. Last year it was 15.7%. At the very least it should go up to about 12-13%, he'll start hitting some home runs don't worry. ;-D

I definitely think there's something to him not taking a walk...I wouldn't count on him snapping all the way back up to 12-13% there. The league average is 11% though and he's no slouch power-wise so I'd assume he could at least make it back to there.

You pretty much contradicted yourself there. :-)
