The Cubs just used SP Carlos Marmol as a pinch-runner for Phil Nevin.
For those who don't know, Marmol is a converted pitcher, and was originally a catcher/outfielder in the Cubs minor league system (BA of .273 in 143 minor league games). Marmol does have some speed, as he demonstrated in 2002 for rookie league Arizona, stealing 10 bases in 47 games.
So, a day after pitching 6.1 innings against Milwaukee, surrenderring only 3 hits and 1 ER while fanning 8, Marmol entered the game as a pinch-runner. Not something you see everyday!
