i just watched the cub-white sox game on tv on fox, lou piniella was doing the color commmentating, and I have to say, it was the worst most unenjoyable commentating I've ever had to listen to. He has a southern accent, so it seems like your watching a nascar race , his
"color" commentating is pretty much the most worthless, obvious comments ever, and overall, its just hard to listen too.

omidearlord, i hope you're talking about marty and steve (radio guys), because i'm fixin' to mow down george grande and chris welsh. those guys just crack each other up. they've never EVER-EVER said a funny thing in their lives, but they're up there in the booth just grinning away with that tommy bahama faux-relaxed aura eminating off of them like the wispy entrails of cotton candy.
I agree, Berman, Sutcliffe, et al at ESPN are awful, with two exceptions: John Miller and Jeff Brantley.
I'm a Yankees fan. My choices are Sterling and Waldman (radio), Kay, Singleton, and Leiter (YES TV), or Buck and McCarver (FOX). It's unbearable. Sometimes you just want to hang yourself. <img src=/forums/images/smiles/kiss.gif>
I find myself watching more Mets games now. I like Keith Hernandez. He shows that you can be a homer, but still be forthright and level criticism when it's warranted. He'll probably be let go, when the brown-nosers and cheerleaders take over, a la the YES Network.

Sterling and Waldman are unbearable and McCarver is worse than Buck, but both are pretty bad. I like Singleton the best and Leiter and Kay aren't bad.. Kay has gotten better over the years. Morgan is probably my least favorite.

I won't listen to the TV broadcasts any more with GG. I know he's an original ESPN anchor and hosts the HOF ceremonies. His man-love for the Cardinals, Pujols and Edmonds makes me gag. He also has developed a serious problem with misjudging the batted ball and a fixation on "veteran" ballplayers who did the "little" things. I like Welsh, I think he has grown tired of GG as well. If he were teamed with the right PBP guy he could be really good. Marty is a crusty old man more concerned about his inner circle and talking about his golf game. He still can be one of the best (I've listened to him for 30 years), you know what I mean if you heard his call of Dunn's walk-off grand slam the other night.
Al Hrabosky and almost any Cub announcer in history are the worst
For TV, the terrible Trio of Theisman, Walton, and Morgan all make me wanna vomit... you'd think ESPN could've not hired a schmuck in at least ONE of the big 3...

couldn't agree more, hios knowledge seems endless. i just love getting new insight fdrom him every game. I do agree with everyone that the CWS announcers are complete crap.

yea i was listening to that game too and after the commercial break, when farmer got to finish his story, he explained that dimaggio wouldnt sign a ball for the guy, instead he gave him a plaque with a picture and a signed ball in it. dimaggio just wouldnt sign things for his teamates.
and yes the white sox have the worst radio and tv tandems.
