How many bench guys?

How many bench guys do you carry? I have 3 and it seems that many times those I bench have better games then those I start.

I've been thinking of dropping 2 of them and picking up a couple of pitchers to replace them.

I've got 1 bench hitter (Dmitri Young) and I just got him off waivers yesterday. They way I see it, I only have one slot for each position players and they play everyday for the most part (unlike in hockey/basketball) so I only need one guy for each slot, AND I don't feel like seeing better numbers on my bench than in my starting lineup from one night to the other. I run Javy Lopez, Giambino, Marc Giles, Glaus, no shortstop (since I'll take good production or no production but definitely not shit production), Brian Giles, Larry Jones, and Maggs, with Baggs at Utility. Since I have no bench I have a whole shitload of pitchers with my core being Kevin Brown, Schilling, Moyer, Pineiro, Wade, and Maddux and by shitload is guys like MiguelBat, Padilla, Kip Wells, etc. It works pretty decently.

I should have let you all know I have 20 roster spots.

I usually bench Millar, Baldelli and Koskie or Nevin.

The pitchers available is pretty thin, but I was looking at Gobble and Stephenson.

Fill up your bench anyways. It doesn't hurt your team and it prevents other teams from benefitting from your bench players. I'm sure other players have bench players you want.

I play Yahoo 5X5, H2H and I only carry one....it drives me crazy watching my bench guys have big games. And since I'm not clarivoyant I never know who's going to have a big game. The only advantage is keeping some players off other peoples rosters. I'd rather invest in pitching.....always pays off for me....

My Yahoo league allows 5 bench spots. I carry 2 hitters and 3 Sp's in that league.
