I wonder if he was ill or something. I've never seen Jeff look that bad. Usually, even in his bad starts, he teases you with good stretches and can go five or 6 inning, but this was pathetic. The first inning, it wasn't impressive, but he did manage to hold them to two hits and no runs, but the 2nd and 3rd innings, he was like a zombie, no zip or anything, all the pitches about the same speed, didn't move the ball around much. By the 3rd inning, every pitched looked the same, a real weak 2 seamer over the plate about thigh high. You could almost hear the Rockies cry when they pulled him.
The oddest part was, a bad start usually means you walk a lot of guys and then give up hits, but he was throwing strikes, justs ones so easy to hit he could never face a hitter long enough to walk them.
