Jun 27 Chavez (forearm tendinitis) will consider the DL as an option if he continues to struggle with various injuries after the All-Star break, the Contra Costa Times reports.

Recommendation: "I'm not going to be able to run well the whole year, but if I get back and my numbers are dropping, that's going to be an option," Chavez said. "At this point I'm not considering that, but if I come back and I'm embarrassing myself and the team, I will consider that." Chavez is mired in a seven-for-49 slump at the plate, with just one home run and three RBI in his past 14 games.

Doesn't sound promising. I would rather see him go on the DL now if necessary than to wait until after the AS break.

I wish he would go on the dl. Maybe get better for the second half. At least I would be able to add a player because my bench is 3 deep with him.

Chavez and why his numbers have been so down: he has been dealing with a slight tear in his left hamstring, back tightness and tendinitis in both forearms. He is 5th in all star balloting now and he is hoping to use the all-star break to heal his hurting body.

As far as I know, the hammy tear doesn't deter his swing any. He has said he won't be able to run very well the rest of the year. He has a forearm strain as well. That may be what's affecting his swing of late. He's usually at his best around this time, so hopefully he'll get hot again.
