Also, who's to say you can't just throw the sword down-field like a javelin.
you could, but a chainsaw to the face does far more damage

Biggest problem I have with throwing either a chainsaw or a sword is that, if you miss, you're left with nothing at all to defend yourself with. And, trust me, you'd miss with a chainsaw.

You'd have to have an awful lot of practice and some mighty big forearms to be able to be even remotely accurate with a chainsaw. It's not just because of the weight, but it's just awkward. All the weight's on the handle. Plus, you either have a gas powered engine or a cord.
