I need saves ... I have both Hasegawa and Sasaki.
It looks like Sasaki had a good 1-inning set-up performance last night. I have to set my roster on Monday for the week ... I can't afford to have both of these guys active.
Would you bet on Hasegawa holding the role for another week, or do you think Sasaki will assume the Closer post before that?

"Kazuhiro Sasaki - R - Seattle Mariners Aug 14
Kazuhiro Sasaki pitched a perfect eighth inning Wednesday in his return from the disabled list.
Sasaki needed 12 pitches to retire the Blue Jays in order. The Mariners will probably give him one more inning in a non-pressure situation before moving him into a setup role. "

did a good job against bluejays, so I think the job will be his.

his fastball is still only topping out at 88-89 mph... when it was 90-92 before the injury... I know what they're saying, but Shiggy is 11/11 in save opportunities and hasn't even allowed a run as closer... that's just sick

As a resident Mariners fan I'd like to have Shigetoshi close out the games until he falters before they put Sasaki in. I think Hasegawa deserves at least that much for his excellent outtings. Sasaki is the veteran and proven closer though but he should realize that Shigitoshi is still hot and put the team above his own pride for a little while. Anyhow, I've had the same dilemma with both these closers and I've decided to bench them both and instead go with Looper and Cordero as my primaries until it's clear which Seattle closer is there for the long run.
