2 herniated discs, that's not good for eric gagne. I seriously do not see a comeback this season or any other season if he requires surgery on this.

Gagne will have season-ending surgery Saturday to repair a herniated disc in his lower back, the Associated Press reports.

Gagne made only two appearances for the Dodgers this season, allowing only a walk and picking up a save in two innings of work. This latest setback is not related to the elbow problems that has forced the 2003 Cy Young winner to only 16 appearancs in the past two seasons.

saito looked shaky his last 2 save opps, but too bad broxton isnt doing well either. looks like its saito for a while, but im wondering why he's starting to walk guys more.

The last 2 games are making me worry a little. I hope they don't go after another closer before the trade deadline and give Saito a chance to bouce back. As great as he's looked, he really has no history.

Word is they are looking for middle relief help, not a new closer. Besides, what closer is available that has a better track record than Saito? Wickman's really the only option I can think of that might be traded. Roberto Hernandez and S. Torres might be on the trading block, but I don't see the Dodgers using either of them to closer ahead of Saito.
