So over the course of two weeks, I've slipped from 1st to 5th in my league. My production has gone way down, and I'm wondering if I need to change something up.
I know that Delgado has to go, but nobody wants to trade for him. One team has most the ace pitching (Johan, Peavy, Harden, Verlander, Kazmir, ect) and won't let go of them.
Judging by the look of your team I would say you are in dire need of starting pitching. You are obviously stacked pretty heavily in the 1b and utility position. Just because nobody will trade for Delgado doesn't mean you can't move Ortiz. Delgado will put up plenty of production to fill your 1b hole. You could even dangle Pujols for a top starter like Johan Santana and maybe a more productive 3b.
You have to consider that you will continue to slip with that starting pitching. You need two top starters minimum to compete. You should be looking to move Ortiz and Chad Tracy and one of your mediocre starters for something like a johan santana and brandon webb or pedro martinez and aaron harang. You could probably move a closer as well, but you need to trade.
Out of your starters I honestly only like hudson, zito, and blanton. Cain for spot starts maybe, but he is very inconsistent. You're offense is ridiculously stacked and you need to even that out. I would like to see the offense of the team that is stacked with pitching.
yeah you need to even out that pitching. Blanton, Cain, Duke, and Bedard have all been relatively disappointing. I think Cain could be used in spot starts and Blanton was real streaky last year and might be worth holding on to if you can capture those streaks. I would look for Hudson to turn it around soon dont give up on him. Your production is way down because a bunch of your guys are slumping pretty bad right now. Delgado, Tracy, Aram, Utley, Scott-Po. Pretty much the whole team is in a slump, but that wont continue its just part of baseball. Yeah if no one likes Delgado then Dangle either Pujols or Ortiz. I know it will be hard but you wont lose that much power because Delgado will still put up solid numbers. Just make sure you get enough in return. I wouldn't expect less than the likes of Santana, Peavy, Oswalt, Webb, "Insert Ace's Name Here".
