Can I play Counter Strike with this setup?

Postby Phatferd » Mon Jun 26, 2006 4:41 am

Athlon 3200+ (2.2 ghz)
512mb RAM
Geforce 5500 (I know)

My buddy plays a lot and I want to play him online, would this setup work for Counter Strike. I remember my buddy playing Counter Strike 5 years ago, so I assume it's not too intensive.\

BTW, when Athlon says a CPU is a 3200 does that mean its about a 3.2 ghz if compared to a Pentium chip? I just don't get how an AMD chip is always about a ghz behind the current Pentiums. I assume it's measured differently, but if compared it'd be about a 3.2.

I am as you know, but I wasn't planning on getting a new vid card til around xmas, so I was basically asking if the 5500 would do it.

Since I am getting that sick deal from you I plan on dropping the 150 for 7600.

They are usually different models. The GT is probably the best followed by the gs and the xs.

Do you have links for them? I could tell you better then.

For example this is a 7600gs for $110

This is a 7300gt, so is this still better than a gs one level up?

It all depends on Pixel Pipelines and ram.

The more the better.

The 7300 only has 8 Pixel Pipelines while the 7600 has 12.

The 7800 I think has 20
